Social Media Website Audit
What's the best social media platform...?
We’re often asked what the best social media platform is; is it Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Google+, Pinterest or something else? Our answer is always the same – none of those are any good if you don’t have a website to back up your efforts.
It's a surprise to many to hear that more businesses than not, actually do NOT have a website. In New Zealand, only around one in three businesses have a website. Admittedly, this ratio is changing with the proliferation of 'free' website sites being available, but sadly, many business owners think they can bypass the need for investing in a website and get online by simply setting up a social media page.
And then, because they've "gotten" "social", they then get inundated with orders for their wonderful widgets... they have a “build it and they’ll come” mentality. Oh if only incorporating online marketing into a business’s mix were as easy as setting up a YouTube Channel or Facebook Page!
Sadly, it’s not.
In our opinion you’re leaving money on the table if you don’t have a website geared to market your business included in your online marketing mix. In fact, we’d even go so far as to say having a website has to be the most important online aspect of any business.
Because all online roads need to lead back to your website so that you can use it to build your database of interested and potential customers.
To complicate the matter a little further, there’s a difference between a website that’s been put together by a computer programmer – someone who writes code - to one that’s been designed by a marketer. Having a (correctly set up) website means you’re in control of your online marketing efforts.
